The Journey Home

After Peace Corps termination interviews and a health exam in Lagos, (with still some remaining intestinal amoeba to worry about) I headed east across the Niger for the last time towards the Cameroons. Once again I stayed with friends and relatives of faculty from Community Grammar School.

And though this was not a bridge I had to cross as I departed Nigeria it was luxurious compared to what lay ahead for me.

Even in the Cameroons I was able to look up relations from Nigerian friends but I also made acquaintances along the way such as Joseph Njong, Executive Secretary for the District Officer here in Banso (shown here with the "Road Runner").

Buildings were very different here than I had observed
earlier, with much more wood construction and very
elaborately and ornately carved doorways.
